Popular Events The Bennington campus is a lively place - day or night, weekday or weekend. Although it's easy to get to nearby cities (Boston & New York City), most students stick around campus on the weekends. To keep them busy, the Campus Activity Board (CAB - a student organization) plans a full schedule of events ranging from school-sponsored theme parties to the newest indie band playing in the Downstairs Cafe. Throughout the course of the academic year, students can expect to see numerous dance, drama, and music performances by their fellow classmates and teachers, weekly lectures in the social sciences and arts, film screenings in the on-campus movie theatre, midnight movies (when the College rents the local theatre), Sunfest (an outdoor music festival), Battle of the Bands, Rollerama, Pigstock (school-wide barbeque - vegan ribs included), Fashion Show (student designers), acoustic night, open mics, Bowlerama (when the College rents the local bowling alley), and Midnight Breakfast (an end of the term surprise). It's hard to find time to do it all!;
Student Activities choral groups, concert band, dance, drama/theater, jazz band, literary magazine, music ensembles, musical theater, radio station, student government, student newspaper, student film society, symphony orchestra, yearbook

International Organizations (Appears as submitted by school) Legal Aliens is an organized community of international students at Bennington College. The group is dedicated to the promotion and celebration of cultural awareness and diversity on campus and has served as a channel for students to represent themselves in the wider community. Each year Legal Aliens hosts a Multi-Cultural show. From Turkish songs to African dances to Bollywood dances to Romanian jokes, the show has provided an opportunity for international students to collaborate with the rest of the campus community and share their cultural variety. In addition to the Multi-Cultural show, Legal Aliens has brought a number of internationally acclaimed performing artists to campus. Among the long list of distinguished performers are tabla maestro Bikram Ghosh (who features regularly with artists such as Ravi Shankar); Tehreema Mitha, an Indian Classical Dancer; tabla maestro Anindo Chatterjee; sarangi maestro Ramesh Mishra; Humayun Khan, an Afghan vocalist and student of the legendary sitar maestro Ustad Vilayat Khan; Alif Laila, a sitar player from Bangladesh; and world reknowned bansuri (Indian flute) player, Steve Gorn, who was featured on John MacDowell's award winning soundtrack for "Born into Brothels", 2005's academy award winning documentary.
